Dear Congress:
I know you feel strongly, about knowing whats
right
But you dont have to prove it, by starting
a fight
Federal employees were furloughed, with the blink
of an eye
Dont you care about people, I plead with
a sigh
Its not about policy, or whos right
or whos wrong
Were all in this together, lets try
to get along
Its not about excuses, or what the public
will buy
And its not about junkets, that can be hidden
with a lie
Please try hard to remember, the days when you
were pure
You hated the abuse in Washington, so elected
office you secured
Your intentions were quite admirable, you raised
a little hell
One day you awakened, looked around and all was
well
I hate to disillusion, but youre the problem,
dont you see
Youve overstayed your welcome, an elected
official, you shouldnt be
Youre like an old time champion, who doesnt
know when to quit
You think your chair in Congress, is the only
place where you can sit
So do yourself a favor, step down and do whats
right
Let the next young champion step forward, and
continue on the fight
For theres always new ideas, and the young
can watch the old
And well get honesty back in government,
instead of a sign that says, "Just Sold"
I know there must be trade-offs, you help
me and Ill help you
Well make this country better, with the
laws that we push through
The citizens would really like this, if they only
understood
Since Im their representative, Im
voting as they would
Well Im sorry to disillusion, but I just
dont understand
Federal employees all went wanting, while Congress
directed the band
While there might be different partys, Please
keep this in sight
ASK, before your next decision, IS IT WRONG OR
IS IT RIGHT!!!!
Just in case, you just dont get it, its
time for you to go
And please dont become a lobbyist, youve
made your share of dough
We dont need career politicians, we need
someone to care
