IMPEACH THE JOURNALISTS!!

Fight On Mr. President!

For more than a year now - We’ve told you poll after poll

Not to report about sex - That was going on in the capitol

You ignored all our requests - Saying, "The people demand to know

A small minority was interested - Maybe to intellectually grow!!

Each headline you screamed - Like a Carnival Barker in pain

It’s not really news - And the language isn’t plain

Do you know what you’re doing - With the new standards you’ve set

You play to the negative - And it’s the negative, we’ll all get!!

And what was the crime - Manufactured by the press

Asking questions quite private - To something no one would confess

You’ve set the standards quite high - Or actually, maybe quite low

Should one try to remain private - Or run a dog and pony show!!

What would Edward R. say - About the press of today

Who dwell on the negative - With nothing else to say

You set the national tone - With the gossip that you spread

Edward R. must just watch - Slowly shaking his head!!

"But he’s a public person - The people need to know"

What happened to the kindness - That more of us used to show

"But he’s the President - And he told us all a lie"

Trying to answer a question - That most would not dignify!!

Some of those who threw the stones - Learned fast about aspersions cast

They ended up apologizing - For mistakes out of their past

Racing with you the journalist - To go public with their facts

Facing the public humility - And confessing to the acts!!

If what you were doing was good - The world should be a better place

But as I look around -It really doesn’t seem to be the case

A minority thrives on the negative - High officials in agony

You feed them Starr’s leaks - Which they gobble up with glee!!

And poor, poor Monica - Who no longer needs a last name

The unwitting pawn of revenge - Will never live down the fame

And should the President resign - I shout a resounding "NO"

We have a strong, humble leader - Who after this fight, will grow!!
