In Memoriam
R. L. Stevenson Elementary: A School of Excellence!
Becoming a school of excellence - Certainly doesn't happen by chance
It takes very talented people - Working hard with vigilance
As I represent the parents - I stand here proud as I can be
For all of us worked hard - And it was worth it as you can see!
In the last 19 years - 108 schools have received this award
It's something the school can't achieve - Unless everyone comes on board
Ms. Werner, our principal - Whose motivation, nurturing and care
And Cindy, our secretary - Who's bubbly smile is everywhere!
And Mrs. Gargaro, Our Health Assistant - And Fridley's finest volunteer
Treats the kids like one of her own - And holds each of them so dear
I can't forget Jerry - The Custodian who keeps the school clean
He loves to joke with the kids - He's been here forever, always part of the scene!
Now I'll share a little history - This property once a Truck and Produce farm
Stevenson was built in 1968 - It cost 1 million dollars for all this charm
It was a reproduction of Hayes Elementary - And was known as the donut school
It has 500 K through 4 students - And we think it's pretty cool !
Stevenson offers much, much more - Of which I'll soon explain
Such as English as a second language - So understanding they can attain
There is also media technology - And music which soothes the soul
The school helps students reach their full potential - Which is our final goal !
For all of this to happen - The parents must be involved
The school collaborates with them - It's enlightening and gets things resolved
The Learning Results Team - And Parents in Action working for Students
The first is chaired by the Principal - But both committees are quite prudent!
We all have worked quite hard - And achieved the goal that we sought
But in seven years from now - The process begins again, as it ought
So now, let us celebrate this day in history - And let the party commence
Remember we're Robert Louis Stevenson - A distinguished School of Excellence!
I congratulate you all!
Linda K. Borman
